Journal Excerpts of An Alopecia Sufferer

Following are excerpts from a female client’s journal (her name is withheld to protect her identity); she has documented her hair loss and her experience at Capilia in helping her regrow her hair.

I met someone who had lost her hair as a result of chemo treatments. She had gone to Capilia Orlando where the owner, Anderia, implemented a treatment plan. Six (6) months later, following the regime recommended by Anderia, she had a full head of thick soft hair.

I take medication for Rosacea and began to notice my hair falling out. I decided to see if Anderia could help me too. I scheduled an appointment and met with Anderia about my hair loss situation. All new clients at Capilia Orlando, receive a computerized hair and scalp analysis. Based on my results, I was told I had sebaceous alopecia. Anderia performed a hair treatment on me to clean my scalp thoroughly to encourage new hair growth. She provided me with special shampoo for oily hair. I was to wash my hair daily and keep my scalp clean. After the hair treatment, I then used the iGrow laser for treatment. Going forward, I could either purchase my own iGrow (laser helmet) to continue stimulating hair growth or come into the salon for laser treatments. Due to costs, I opted to go to Capilia for regular treatments.

My work schedule hasn’t been consistent therefore I haven’t been that consistent on going to the salon for the laser treatments. Anderia added feminine complex shampoo to be alternated every other day with oily shampoo. Anderia was kind enough to loan me an iGrow helmet to use 25 minutes a day 4-5 times a week. It is going to be so much easier than try to squeeze in an appointment after work every day (Can’t believe she is so nice to do this for me). I am going to try stopping medication for my Rosacea to see if my hair will stop falling out.

As directed, I am alternating shampoos for my oily scalp and feminine complex. I’ve been using a lotion (small drops to areas with thinning hair) recommended by Anderia and have been using it once a day. She recommended using it twice a day but I don’t always remember to do so, just being real! I am using the iGrow laser about 4 times a week and I have noticed that my hair is not falling out like it was before. I stopped Aldactone medication that I was on and my face is not looking bad yet.

So when I use the iGrow my hair feels so much softer, I’m not sure if it is the laser or the lotion. The areas near the front of my head that were thinning out before are finally growing hair. Unfortunately, my face keeps breaking out and is not looking too good. It is a combination of not eating the right foods and the heat. I went back on medication every other day and have been working on eating better. It is time to set up an appointment for a second hair treatment.

A friend of mine asked if I highlighted my hair recently. It has been 8 weeks of using the shampoo and hair lotion and it has helped my hair color stay longer. My hair is so soft and I think more new hair is growing in as well. She wants the same shampoo so I told her about Capilia Orlando. So far I really like my results.

I went for a haircut and highlights and my stylist said that I didn’t need that much done; she just touched up on the roots. She asked if I was using her blonde shampoo because my highlights stayed in much longer this time and my hair was softer. She also asked what I was doing differently, and I told her that I was washing my hair daily using Capilia hair products. She was concerned about interacting with the hair dye but I have had no problems. I will continue using the iGrow laser because it has been great. I have recommended Capilia Orlando to my patients and I hope some of them go to see Anderia.
